  4.     His seven-year-old bank is solidly profitable, a respected
  5. institution in Encino, Calif. But John J. Keating, president of
  6. Lincoln National Bank, is getting a bum rap all over town. The
  7. banker and his institution are suffering from guilt by
  8. association with Charles Keating, the savings and loan operator
  9. whose Lincoln Savings and Loan of Irvine, Calif., was taken over
  10. by federal regulators last April. Charles Keating is a subject
  11. of a congressional investigation to determine if he tried to buy
  12. favors from five U.S. Senators. John Keating, on the other hand,
  13. is not even wanted for a traffic violation.

  15.     Even so, the double coincidence of names has unnerved
  16. shareholders of the Encino bank, so John Keating will probably
  17. change its name to avoid any more confusion. He jokes that he
  18. may also rechristen himself Fielding Mellish, the name of the
  19. goofy dictator in Woody Allen's 1971 movie Bananas.
